We would love to have you! Our club is small enough to provide a very friendly atmosphere, while being big enough to get things done. We celebrate the strengths of all cultures, ethnicities and genders and we emphasize fun and friendship. Hickory Sunrise Rotary Club is the most diverse club in a District that spans 22 counties in Western North Carolina with 54 clubs.

Our club focuses on the welfare of the local homeless population, particularly veterans. As well as partnering with government agencies to support the annual Foothills Homeless Veteran’s Stand Down with fund-raising, donations and food preparation on the day, members are active within the Veterans Helping Veterans organization.

We also focus our efforts on youth, education and the eradication of hunger through projects such as Stop Hunger Now and the Hickory Soup Kitchen. A cause which is particularly dear to our hearts is the annual Face of A Child project organized by the Little Samaritan Mission. This local organization arranges the delivery of much-needed supplies for orphanages in Moldova, and each year we each provide a bag destined for a particular child. One of our members has accompanied the Little Samaritan personnel to distribute the bags in Moldova, a deeply moving experience.

We also contribute to CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust). Together with other local Rotary clubs, we help with the organization of the Carolina Cycle Challenge. This annual event, previously known as Brett’s Ride, last year raised $100,000 for pediatric cancer research. As members of Rotary International, we support the efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.

We would love to share the Rotary story, the mission and information about lifesaving programs with you. Please visit us one morning!
