June 22nd saw the end of our Rotary year and the passing of the gavel from President Michael (on left with the inappropriately large grin) to incoming President Phil. A big thanks to Michael for his leadership over a very successful past year, which saw the club recognized as the District’s best small club and, more importantly, raise and distribute record amounts for scholarships to Catawba Valley Community College, represented at the meeting by Teresa Biggs (right), Executive Director, CVCC Foundation.
As in previous years, Hickory Sunrise Rotary Members helped out at the Foothills Veterans Stand Down held on April 21st 2017 at Catawba Valley Community College. As before, we served food to veterans and volunteers. This year we had the benefit of the new food truck operated by Bob Steiger and Robert Garrison.
Veterans attending the event have access to a range of services, such as dentistry, opportunities to meet with VA officials, employment advice and army surplus items.
Join us on Saturday, February 11 at Moretz Mill for the Fourth Annual Hickory Sunrise Rotary Valentine Dance!
From 7-11 p.m. dance to the live music of “Gary Lowder & Smoking-Hot” and to the sounds of DJ Eric Bowman. A full meal will be provided, there will be a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing, and we’ll have a Best Dressed contest with prizes.
All of this for only $30 a ticket. Our last three dances (two Halloween and one Valentine) have been sell outs, so please don’t wait until all the tickets are gone!
Tickets available from: Any member, or call Bob at 828-303-0057, or email us, tell us how many tickets you need and we’ll hold them for you at the door.
All proceeds from the dance go to fund Rotary scholarships to CVCC and other education-oriented initiatives.
