This week, we welcomed four students spending a year at Hickory High School as part of the AFS-USA foreign student exchange program, coordinated locally by our own Dan Green. Dan introduced us to Lara from Turkey, Peak from Thailand, Vivian from Austria and the effervescent Mina from Tunisia. Sergeant at Arms Wayne challenged various victims to interpret a sentence from each of the guests in their native language, which raked in a good quantity of dollar fines.
We wish all of our visitors a happy and educational stay in our community.
Join Hickory Sunrise Rotary Club for a St. Patrick’s Day Dance to the music of the Black Water Rhythm & Blues Band. Saturday March 17th at Moretz Mill in beautiful downtown Hickory, NC. The fun starts at 7 pm and we throw you out at 11 (politely, of course). A full meal is included in the ticket price of $30 and there is a cash bar.
Proceeds from the evening go towards funding scholarships to Catawba Valley Community College for deserving young people who otherwise might not be able to afford to attend.
To purchase your ticket(s) call 828-303-0057 or email us.
June 22nd saw the end of our Rotary year and the passing of the gavel from President Michael (on left with the inappropriately large grin) to incoming President Phil. A big thanks to Michael for his leadership over a very successful past year, which saw the club recognized as the District’s best small club and, more importantly, raise and distribute record amounts for scholarships to Catawba Valley Community College, represented at the meeting by Teresa Biggs (right), Executive Director, CVCC Foundation.
