Welcome President Phil

June 22nd saw the end of our Rotary year and the passing of the gavel from President Michael (on left with the inappropriately large grin) to incoming President Phil. A big thanks to Michael for his leadership over a very successful past year, which saw the club recognized as the District’s best small club and, more importantly, raise and distribute record amounts for scholarships to Catawba Valley Community College, represented at the meeting by Teresa Biggs (right), Executive Director, CVCC Foundation.

Foothills Veterans Stand Down 2017

As in previous years, Hickory Sunrise Rotary Members helped out at the Foothills Veterans Stand Down held on April 21st 2017 at Catawba Valley Community College. As before, we served food to veterans and volunteers. This year we had the benefit of the new food truck operated by Bob Steiger and Robert Garrison.

IMG_1298Veterans attending the event have access to a range of services, such as dentistry, opportunities to meet with VA officials, employment advice and army surplus items.
