Representatives of the Rotary Club of Hickory Sunrise were on hand at the Hickory High School graduation ceremony this June to present their first annual scholarship to Catawba Valley Community College. The scholarship was presented by Ric Vandett, who, as former Schools Superintendent, felt very much at home back at Hickory High.
Recipient Jose Cisneros will be attending CVCC in the fall, where he will study English and/or Computer Studies.
The first annual Rotary Jam on Saturday, May 17th 2014 was a fun evening for all, thanks to the music of the amazing Harris Brothers and the outstanding barbecue prepared by Hickory Sunrise Rotarians. The event netted over $4,000 to provide scholarships for deserving students wishing to attend Catawba Valley Community College. There was a show of paintings by local artists, a silent auction and prize drawings throughout the evening.
